Radiation Warning signs
All entrances to the laser procedure room must have: (a) a visible warning luminaire which is installed and functional; and (b) a warning sign which includes the following information: • laser hazard symbol as prescribed in the laser standard • words to the effect of: o ‘warning – laser on – do not enter when light is illuminated’ o ‘eye protection must be worn’ Note 1: The warning sign information may be included in the visible warning luminaire. Note 2: This requirement does not apply to: (a) rooms that can only be accessed from the laser procedure room; or (b) entrances to the laser procedure room where a person must, prior to entering the room, pass through a control area, provided that a warning sign is placed at the outside entrance to the control area.
External radiation levels
Unless specified below, there must be no laser radiation transmitted outside of the premises. All windows, doorways and open portals must be protected or screened in such a manner as to reduce the transmitted laser radiation to levels not exceeding the accessible emission limits for Class 1. Such protection or screening that is not permanently fitted (i.e. can be easily removed or opened) must be readily available at the premises and readily able to be fitted to the interior surface.
